After a crash
The first 48 hours decide a lot.
Adjusters move fast because the early days are when claims get smaller. What you do — and don't do — matters.
Call before you call them back- See a doctor, even if you feel fine.
Adrenaline hides injuries. A medical record from day one is the foundation of the claim.
- Get the report number and take photos.
Vehicles, the scene, the other driver's license and insurance card, and any visible injuries.
- Don't let their insurance company record you.
The other driver's insurer will call. You don't have to talk to them, and their adjuster is trained to get you to say you're fine on tape.
- Don't sign anything or take a quick check.
Early offers are made before anyone knows how badly you're hurt. Once you sign, the claim is closed.
